One of the most recent organizations to come onto the scene over the last couple years Race World Offshore also know as RWO announced in a press release that they have been awarded a five year contract from the City of Key West to play host of the Offshore Powerboat Racing World Championship Event that has become a staple event to end the boating season in November. The organization explained it was a difficult and long Request for Proposal (RFP) process however the Key West City Commissioners voted in favor of Race World

RWO President, Larry Bleil, commented on the news. 

“This whole process has taken so long and it spilled over into the second quarter of 2019. I am so happy it is over so we can get on with things. And now, we can finally roll out our plans and talk about this season.”

RWO is now also officially recognized as an APBA sanctioning body of offshore races and will be announcing their upcoming races for this season.

Australian offshore racers are approaching their first round of racing as they head into a five stop season starting in Victoria later in April. The series consists of two classes Superheat extreme and Supercat Outboard coming together taking on the rough waters of Australia. 

 

Round 1, Wyndham Harbour, Victoria- April 27-28

Round 2, Bowen, 2019, Bowen Offshore Superboat Race

- July 20 - July 21

Round 3, Townsville, Queensland- October 5 - October 6

Round 4, Lake Macquarie, 2019- October 19 - October 20

Round 5, Hervey Bay, 2019 November 30 - December 1
